Painting Almost Every Day

"Shout Joyfully to the LORD, all the earth." Psalm 100:1

I have been busy putting finishing touches on the paintings from last week. It is really hard for me to stop! I can almost hear this one singing, even shouting now, so it must be done! What a glorious golden glow covered the sky and the fields that day.

A few touches away.

This one is just a few touches away....I want to add a few lighter leaves to the olive trees in the foreground and straighten out the rows of vines on the right side. This photo does not show the blue sky...but, it is still blue. I will post the final soon.

A Portion of a painting I am working on now.

When I drive down these country roads the sunlight just sparkles through everything...even the tops of the fence posts...The shadows on the road are intricate and the dark oak trees arch over like a tunnel. This is just the front corner of the whole painting....it needs some work. My son likes it, just the way it is. But, I want to show the details of the road and the tunnel like trees. Maybe tomorrow....

Almost Finished

Last week I began three paintings...yesterday I tried to finish them. They are close, so I can show you two of them today. The third one is large and may take a few more days.

On Thursday I painted this one. The view is breathtaking from the front porch of my friend's home in Healdsburg, CA. We celebrate July 4th there every summer and the light on those vineyards almost sings! I am trying to paint that feeling for you. Enjoy!

Psalm 34:1

On Friday, I found my photos of the vines that grow alongside the highway. In the early fall, last year there was this golden moment at sunset that seem to light the vines on fire. I was driving away from the sun and had to keep my eyes in front of me while I turned my camera to face out the window. The moment was glorious and I caught enough on film to help remind me.
Here is my painting of that moment. Can you feel it?

Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth.
Psalm 100:1

I will post these again when they are complete. Today I began on a peaceful pathway painting. Hopefully it will be ready to show you tomorrow!

"Commit your works to the LORD, and your plans will be established."
Proverbs 16:3

Last week, I expected to post a painting each day. Each new painting I started is almost finished...but, there are still things to fix. I did not want to post them until they were complete.

Since then, I have realized that this is a process. This will take time and I will not be able to meet my original goal right away (a painting a day).

In order to keep going, I will post the paintings anyway. That way you can see them as they progress and I will (with this practice) become faster. You might enjoy watching!

Looking Up

"I will lift up my eyes to the hills...my help comes from the LORD."

Looking up, like Abraham
"Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram"
Looking up, like Peter
"Peter...walked on the water and came toward Jesus"
Looking Up, like Jesus
"He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven..."

Looking Up... today, I am taking my first steps into a new land (cyberspace),
with my canvas, brushes, paint and pen (keyboard)...

It will be a sacrifice...it will take concentrated time and effort,
and cause me to give up some of the things I love....
but I will look up and remember: The Lord Provides

It will be stormy....the constant winds offering other ways,
and the waves of daily life as a parent of teens...
but I will look up and remember: Jesus calms Storms

It will be meager...my work is just a few among so many,
and there really are "starving artists" too....
but I will look up and remember: Jesus does Miraculous work

Come with me! I will try to put up a new painting each week. Enjoy the view!

Sherilee

This painting is a creative composition from photos I took, of the Bennett Valley, California hillsides. The cross is formed of stones painted white and kept by the landowner. It is a quiet landmark that speaks volumes. The grapevines are abundant in this area and truly represent the most popular of Sonoma County's beautiful sights. In the fall, the sunlight blankets the hills at dusk with a breathtaking glow. I wanted to remember that feeling.
